Stills For The Digipack

As our music video is set in the fun city of Brighton I thought that I would base my designs for a digipack on this setting. Below are various images of Brighton Pier that I may use as an insert in my digipack.

The image to the left is a dark image of Brighton Pier where we can see the sign beginning to light up. This establishes the setting of the video to the audience. I think that the image to the right is stronger as more of the sign is showing and so it is easily identifyable to the viewer. I also quite like the beach at the base of this image. It looks like the scene is set on a stage and it also makes the image more interesting as there are more lines to draw the eye across the screen.
This image, to the left, has a similar concept. althought this time there is an object travelling vertically up the page. This object has a bright tip which makes the eye become drawn here. This is because the eyes are drawn to light parts of a frame.
This does not make the pier the main focus of the frame but it does make the scene look more busyand adds another dimension. If the strretlight was on and bright this would highlight the time of day. It is also an example of the light source that we are going to be using when we are filming.
As you can see, in the image to the right, the time of day is showing as the images are getting darker. This shows the pier from closer up with alot more of the beach visible. The image looks distanted from the scene that can be captured on Brighton Pier. There are no bright, powerful lights and so the viewer could be unclear of the focal point in the image. I think this image is extremely boring and does not give the viewer a sense of what is happening in the image.

This image is alot more powerful, in my opinion, than the last as there is soime light that captures the viewer. I think that the images would be better if they were darker i.e. the time of day was later, so that the lighting and the pier itself stood out from the background. Therefore I would need to go back at a later time to get the best view.

Storyboard Flatplans

Captions With Storyboard Page 1
1. Establishing shot of terraced housing with light on
2. Enlargement of lit window with silhouette of girls dancing
3. Cut back to terraced housing. Same shot as before, however a different light is on
4. Enlargement of second lit window with a silhouette of a group of boys socialising
5. Boy/girl laughing. Shot revers shot of each charecter x4. 2 shots of girl, 2 shots of boy
6. Midshot from zoom out of extreme close-up. Group of girls laughing. sitting on bed looking at laptop, straightening hair

These flatplans are initial ideas for the sequence of events in our music video. We will use these when filming to help with the sequence and decide the shot types that will follow.

This is the first 6 images for the sequence of the video. The scene begins with an image of terraced houses with the camera zooming into one of them. In this window is silhoettes of girls dancing. The shot then flips to an image of more terraced houses again zooming into a window. This time there is a silhoette of male figures relaxing. these are both midshots of the characters.

This shows the contrast between the two scenes in very quick succession and also establishes the scene and setting.
The next shots are quick shot reverse shots of the main characters. There are several extreme close-ups of the two characters faces, switching form one to the next. This establishes a connection between the two individuals, focussing the audiences attentions on them.

The next shot reverts back to the scene of the girls, they are sat on a bed with laptop giggling. Other girls are getting ready in the mirror and putting on make-up. It is a typical scene from a girls room which the target audience can relate to.
Next is a midshot that pans roud to capture the rest of the room. This gives the audience an exact account of what is happening. The props that will be seen here include make-up scattered around, bright clothes on the floor and mirrors scattered around. This would be a typical girls bedroom which the target audience recognises.

8. Zooms out of boys laptop into boys room
9. Comes out of computer. Zooms out, get to see the rest of the boys room, boys on xbox, drumkit
10. View of boys computer screen, see he is talking to girl. Girl says Gtg xxx at the chnage of beat, cut
11. Girls run out of house, see bus is coming, scream, run, get on bus
12. Bus drives away, shot of the houseand no one there. shows they are on bus
This sequence of shot shows the contrast in lives between the male and female charecters. We see the boys room is less about looking good and more about having a good time. They are playing on the Xbox and messing around on the drums while the girls take ages to get ready. This contrast is shown in the zoom out establishing shot (9) which shows the scene. Both sexes in our target audience can relate to this as it is stereotypical of them.
The end of the sequence is back to the girls where we see them leaving the hous and catching a bus to wherever they are going. We see the main female charecter say goodbye to the main male charecter on an instant messaging site and then they leave the house. The first part of the music video is establishing the connection between the two groups of people and the middle section is the journey to Brighton, seperately.

13. Main boy says (gestures) to his mates "lets go out." they all get up an leave
14. Music "you go to clubs" a shot of some clubs on Brighton sea front
15. Boys leave house + get in the car, drive off
16. Boys drive past Brighton pavillion, establishing area. Shots of them in the car
17. Scrap that
18. Girls go past Brighton Pavillionon bus to show where they are, they start drinking and messing around
This sequence, the middle sequence, is of the charecters journeys to Brighton, seperately. The first shot in this seqence is a long shot in the boys bedroom where he gestures to his friends that they should go out. This shows the whole scene whilst clearly making the main charecter the main focus. This is by the boys looking at him and light focussing on him to draw the eye to this position on the screen.
The establishing shot of the clubs shows the social scene that these two groups of people are a part of. This is their ending to the night and so this is the target.
We then see the boys leaving the house in contrast to the girls the boys are driving. This could suggest that they are more rebellious than the girls and that they are drink driving.
The next two shots are both point of view shots and estalishing shots of Brighton Pavillion from the different perspectives of the boys and girls. this shows that they are both in the same location and there is a link again between them.

19. CCTV footage of the girls on the bus (black and white)
20. Girls get off the bus and see the boys drive past
21. As the main boy drives past, he notices the main girl
22. Reverse shot of the girl staring back at the boy
23. Boys park car and run up to find the girls
24. the boys see the girls and run over to them
This sequence is the ending of the journey to the clubs and seeing the boys. the sequence begins with the CCTV footage of the girls on the bus which is in black and white to make it seem more realistic. This shows that they are being rebellious by drinking and messing around on the bus which the audience realise and can relate to. This change in view will also add a new dimension and make the music video more interesting.
Next the girls get off the bus and see the boys drive past, there are clubs in the background establishing the area. Next is an over the shoulder shot from the main boys point of view at the main girl. This shows that he is interested in her and the shot reverses to an over the shoulder sshot of the girl staring back, again showing an interest.
Boys park the car abruptly and rush to see the girls as if they are chasing them. The boys run over to them and we see that they are interested whereas the girls are not as excited to see the boys. Girls in general like to be chased and this is what appears to be happening.

Captions With Storyboard Page 5
25. Girls boyfriend appears
26. Boy sees the two meet, over the shoulder shot
27. Boy turns and walks away
This is the closing sequence of shots where we see another male charecter enter the frame. This male charecter is the main girls boyfriend. We see them meet in a two shot of them hugging and kissing. The next shot is an over the shoulder shot where we see the couple from the main male charecters point of view. The main male charecter turns away and we see his diappointed face as the song ends with 'gotta boyfriend?'
These sequence of shots that we have drawn are a basic idea for a storyline. We can take these flatplans when filming to help us sequence and structure our shots in this way. We intend to use this sequence and similar shots as this in our music video.

Flatplans for Digipack

The top flatplan that I have designed is very basic. It is a series of four images that portray elements of the genre of music that we are basing our music video on. The lightning bolt indicates the electro-pop genre with the yellow on black making the bolt stand out.
The front cover of my designed digipack is a mid-shot slight side-angled view of the main male character in the video. The target audience (males and females aged between 18 and 24) as they will recognise him from the video. This male character is looking straight down the camera as if to connect with the audience ans attract them to buy the CD/DVD.
The typeface is in shocking pink as this florescent colour is typical of the electro-pop genre. It will also stand out to the target audience as they are out-going and wear bright clothing. This also stands out on the dark background so will be easily recognisable on the shelf. the positioning of this typeface is placed behind the image of the main character. it is spread across the top third of the frame in order to be seen on a shelf.
The back casing of the digipack is of this design is an image of Brighton pier. Our music video is set in Brighton and so this establishes the scene of where the song is set. It also gives an insight into what is to be seen in the music video.
This image will be faded so that text can be seen above it. This will make the text more easily readable and not make the image the main focus.
The other image is of a darkened street in Brighton with a street light on. If there is anything in the background of this image then it will be faded and the light brightened. I can do this in Photoshop or InDesign in order to make it look professional.
Next to this image is text introducing the names of the characters within the music video and the production team involved. It is also a space where ban members can write a few notes to their audience.

My next idea also contains a series of images except this time there are just three. The digipack sticks to quite a dark colour scheme with brighter colours being portrayed to stand out to the audience. the front cover of this design is quite similar to the previous one as it sticks to the same conventions except this time the main character is facing the camera in a close-up shot of his face. He is making eye-contact with the audience again as if to connect with them.
The background is again black with a florescent pink typeface standing above it. this will again attract the target audience as they are outgoing. Below this will be a smaller, white typeface that says Gotta Boyfriend?
The back cover of this designed digipack is the initial image that we see on the video. It shows the frame of a window. Inside the window frame will contain the title of the CD/DVD and the rest of the contents of the digipack. it will also contain the bar code and copyright.

Also in the larger part of the frame there may be faded silhouettes of the main characters dancing, like in the video.

The final image spreads across both of the inner sections of the casing. It is an image taken in Brighton that shows a darkened, street-lit scene where a car i speeding past the camera. To create this line sort of image i would need to decrease the shutter speed in order to capture more of the movement of the car.

I chose this image as it sets the scene of the music video as being quite pacy, like the music, and the physical scene where the music video is based. This will be recognisable to the target audience as they live this lifestyle week-in, week-out. They are clubbers that travel to Brighton or want to travel to Brighton in order to enjoy the night-life there.

My final flatplan is similar images like the other flatplan designs. This is a variety of the two designs with slightly improved parts.

The frontcover is similar to the design of the frontcover for the second digipack, except this time the background is not black it is white. I cannot decide which is the better design as i think i will need to look at the Photoshop/InDesign outcomes before i decide. Although i do think that the darker background would fit with the conventions of the rest of the digipack, the white background would make the cover look fresher and may make it stand out more as it is a simplistic view.

the typeface would be kept the same although the white text would now need to be in black in order to stand out.

The back cover is the image of the window frame with a dark background. in this image you can see the positioning of the bar code and the listing below it in the thinner window.

The image of the pier, i have decided, will be behind the CD/DVD holder as it is not a main focus but it will identify the scene and location. it is faded with the colours enhanced to make it look more exciting.

The lamppost image is opposite this as it is a simplistic image that leaves plenty of room for text. it can also be faded in order to make the text stand out above it.

Digipack And Promo-Pack

A digipak is the casing in which the CD or DVD is held. This includes the art work for all faces of the pack. The digipak consist of a gatefold (book-style) paperboard outer binding, with one or more plastic trays capable of holding a CD or DVD attached to the inside.

The genre of music that Frankmusik follows is powerpop, electronica and dance. Other artists of these genres include Lady Gaga, Calvin Harris and Daid Guetta.

In oder to complete my own digipak I have decided to look at various artists from the same genre to see if there are similar conventions that I can stick to in order to appeal to the target audience. Therefore the first artist that I have decided to look at is Frankmusik. I wanted to analyse this artist as he is the artist that produced this song and so the target audience will be the same.

The first thing to notice on this CD cover is the artist standing naked. This is very controversial as it is quite exposing. It shows the artist wearing nothing but large, DJ style headphones. His pose is quite quizzical as if to say, 'what are you looking at?' It makes the image seem more normal as the character feels that this is typical behaviour. The target audience, males and females aged between 18 and 24, find this amusing as they have the same sense of humour. This attracts people to buy the album.
The title of the album is Rehab, this suites the nature of the cover as this male does not seem on the same wavelength as the rest of society. This title and the aspect of the headphones could suggest that he only has music in rehab or it rehabilitates him. Although it could suggest that he has an addiction towards music.
The other convention of this cover is the typeface. This is the same typography that Frankmusik uses across all of his CD's and albums making it recognisable to audience members. It is also in a bright yellow. This stands out above the dark, dull brown in the background. This attracts the target audience as they recognise it on the shelf, they are also used to this colour as they wear bright clothing themselves as a follower of this music genre.

The next album cover that I am going to look at is The Fame by Lady Gaga.

This is a close-up shot of the artists face on a black background. This makes it stand out as light colours are used. Her make-up is very soft so that it doesn't make the artist the main focus. Instead we are initially drawn to the diamonds reflecting in her black glasses. This is suggesting that The Fame, portrayed by the album title, can buy you whatever you want. The glasses also cover up the artists life. As if maybe she is hiding behind the fame that she has adapted. By knowing the artists style we know that she is always in dress, she never portrays her true identity. Maybe this makes her more appealing to this target audience because they are mysterious themselves.

This front cover looks quite simplistic to produce as there is not alot going on but it is still powerful because it doesnt reveal alot about the character or the album itself. The contrast of light and dark tones on the face make the album cover strong. The white puffy-like ball image is placed right next to an area of deep black. The eye is therefore drawn o this area of light tone as it is the most obvious part of the frame.

The typography used on this album cover is not as bright as the one on Frankmusik's album cover. It is quite subtle in comparison and this suggests that it is not a main aspect. The designers have done this in a clever way, as if the album title 'The Fame' is a label for the glasses. 'The Fame' is an expensive brand.

I like the idea of using the main character of the music video as a large face to use on the front cover. I think this will draw the audience in as they feel a connection to the person. The idea of using a close-up shot of the artists face draws the audience as they feel the artist looking at them, eye contact is particularly important.

By comparing these two album covers, I have noticed that there are different styles to attract different audiences. Lady Gaga primarily targets women and so she does not need to look provocative to attract males. She produces dance music, like Frankmusik, however she desguises her appearance making her more mysterious. In contrast, Frankmusik is very open in his appearance. This is shown by the nudity shown on his album cover. This shows the diversity that is apparent within musical genres.

The Pitch

As a group we were asked to produce a pitch that we would put forward to the record company in order to encourage them to produce our video. This summarised our ideas and showed what our aims are.

This first link shows the research and ideas in text that we read out during our pitch.

Possible Series of Events Including The Narrative

Introduction: 0-20sec
Establishing shot of terraced housing showing one light on in the windows, cut to an enlargement of this window where there is a silhouette of a group of girls dancing. Cuts back to the original shot of the terraced housing where we see a different light on in the window. Again an enlargement of this with silhouette of a group of boys sitting around.
Quick shots of extreme close-ups of boy and girls face to identify them as the main characters. Shot reverse shot of the characters. Fits in with the beat of the song as it cuts in time. will need to be edited in order to get this right.
Quite a bass bit of the introduction where we cut between each of the rooms to see the two groups.

20-33sec
zooming into girls laptop and zooming out to see the boys room. All of the girls are looking at the computer in the girls room whereas in the boys just the main character is looking while the others are playing video games.

33-58sec
Cuts back to close-up of the screen where the girl is saying that she needs to go.

58-1.39
Girls run out the house, laughing and messing around. They see the bus and run to get on. Lyrics from the song say "I go to clubs" in which we can then cut to clips of clubs. All the boys are in the car taking the mick out of this boy, presumably about this girl that he appears to like. They then drive pass the bus with the girls on it. Zooms into the girls.

1.39-2.04
The girls are drinking on the bus getting ready for their eventful night out. We see the CCTV in the background and then we see a high angle shot of them in black and white as if it were being played back from the CCTV camera. The girls get of the bus and see the girls.

2.04-2.57
The boys drive past the girls and the main boy stares out the window. the main girl sees him and gives him a cheeky grin and carries on talking to her friends. The song slows by 2.40 where the boys are parking and get pout the car to follow the girls to the same club. They are sort of 'chasing' them.

3.08
The end of the song where the girls get to the queue of the club and the boys follow suit slightly after. The main girl meets her boyfriend and they kiss. The other guy sees this and hangs his head in disappointment.

Mise-en-Scene

Mise-en-scene is everything within the frame. this includes props, costume/ make-up, setting and colour.
On Frankmusik's MySpace page he defines his genre of music as being Electronica, Powerpop and Club. It also states that they have a wide audience but primarily try to attract attention from 18-24 year old clubbers of both genders. You can see a screen grab from my powerpoint, for the pitch, to the right. This establishes what Frankmusik intends to accomplish.
The music video begins with shots of boys getting ready, cutting to the girls to show the comparisons between the two scenes. This will be set in a typical bedroom belonging to a 18-24 year old student living at home with their parents. This cut between the two scenes will show the audience the difference in experience of the getting ready for a big night out process for boys and girls. At this point the two groups are very separated and to not appear to relate to each other in any way.
The main colours in the girls room is black and white with them getting ready into fluorescent coloured clothing and bright make-up to make them the main focus of the frame, making them stand out.
The mise-en-scene for the boys room would include flyers from lots of nights out on the wall, posters of provocative girls, drink scattered, beer cans, dirty washing etc. A stereotypical teenage boys room.
An idea could be to have the boys playing xbox and having a laugh whilst the girls are being more interesting in their appearance for the night out. Then the boys start to get ready and are ready extremely quick to make the separation more apparent. Both sexes can relate to this idea and compare it to their own experiences.
The boys then get into a car and begin to drive away as we then see the girls walk out of their house. This is the first time we see the two groups in the same frame and we make the link that they are connected in some way, a possible insight into the rest of the narrative where their paths cross again.
The girls get on the bus then go to the train station. We then see both groups walk down from Brighton station to the sea-front where they finally meet properly in the queue for a club, this is where they become connected. In these frames there will be no placed lighting, we will just use the lights that are already placed in the streets, such as those from shop windows, street lights and possibly the natural lighting of the moon. This would therefore be a vary dark frame with the light highlighting the characters. We could also see other colours that portrays the dance music including fluorescent colours such as yellow, green and pink.
At the beginning of the music video the set is in a girls and boys bedroom. Therefore props that we place in this set will need to be easily identified by our target audience. This means that it is essential for the props to be appropriate. Therefore in the girls' bedroom we need props like straightners, mirrors, make-up. It seems very stereotypical to do this as not every girls bedroom has this but our target audience will associate these aspects with their own room.
In the boys room there will be different props. these would include, an xbox, posters of women or bands, club night leaflets they have collected and probably be more untidy than that of the girls room.
Also a vital prop in this music video will e the laptop in the girls room and the computer in the boys. This is because we have this as a main aspect of the opening represented scene.
Later on in the music video the props that we actually put in place on purpose get alot less. This is due to us filming on a residential, open street. This means there will be the charecters walking towards the sea from Brighton station with just shops and other people in the frame.

Music Video Planning

Why We Chose The Song

As a group of four we chose to use the song 'Gotta Boyfriend' by Frank Musik. We chose this track as it has a very repetitive beat that is catchy and easily memorable. This track is a typical dance song that would be popular in clubs as the rhythm is easy to dance to.
His voice has been modified to sound slightly electronic as this makes it different to other songs of the same genre. This makes it stand out from other dance tracks which is a main reason why it was chosen.
The beat of the song is very fast suggesting that the scene inside the club is going to be at a fast pace, lively and lots of fun. This would be good for a music video as we can create a clubbing scene in a studio or at an actual club to stage a fun filled night. This will also allow us to build on our camera skills as we can have quick shots that we can edit to be really fast cuts on the screen. This will make the video very visually appealing and exciting to watch. In theory our objective is to get people to buy the song to get them ready for a good night out or to play for themselves at their own party.

The Lyrics To 'Gotta Boyfriend'

Boyfriend
B b boyfriend
Boyfriend boyfriend
Boyfriend

So you gotta gotta boy right here
Have you got a boyfriend out there
Cos I know we could maybe, we could share
But I don't think that's very, very fair

It's so more hard when I'm not right here with you
You make me do things, I don't want to do
You call me in and I know there's so much more
Why do you pick me up to kick me to the floor

So you got a boyfriend right here
Have you got a boyfriend out there
Cos I know maybe we could maybe, we could share
But I don't think that's very, very fair

I go to clubs
You go to clubs to
But my friends tell me that I don't have a clue
So you can give me one the next time I'm out
So I got something to scream and shout like

So you got a boyfriend right here
Have you got a boyfriend out there
I know maybe we could, we could share
But I don't think that's very, very fair

So you got a boyfriend right here
Have you got a boyfriend out there
I know maybe we could, we could share
But I don't think that's very, very fair
We could share, aiirrr, aiirrr

Now I wonder, why this way
I don't know where you really strayed and your empty touch
Fractures all of my skin
How happy I could be with the one without you in

So you got a boyfriend right here
Have you got a boyfriend out there
I know maybe we could, we could share
But I don't think that's very, very fair

Gotta boyfriend right here
Have you got a boyfriend out there
So you got a boyfriend right here
Have you got a boyfriend out there

One thing I have noticed when looking at these lyrics is that they are very simple and repetitive, just like the rhythm. There is also not a specific narrative to the song except seemingly a boy asking a girl if she has a boyfriend. This allows us to create our own narrative for the music video which could take the form of a male luring a girl in a club and constantly wanting her attention. This therefore enables us to have our own imaginative picture of what the video could look like.
Another factor helping is to decide this is that there is no music video already available for this track. this therefore means we can create our own ideas and not be swayed by previous convection's that have been crated by the original artist.

Email to Record Company

It is important that we get copyright agreements form the record company before we begin making our music video. Frankmusik belongs to Island Records and so on their website I contacted them with this email. It is to explain why we want to use the music and what we are hoping to achieve. Now that this is complete we can begin filming and designing our digipack around this style of music and the artist.

Analysis of Other Music Videos By this Artist

Confusion Girl
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8hXlOh9Ro0

This music video begins with an establishing shot of the artist, it is low-angled shot with Frankmusik standing on a car. Following from this are lots of establishing shots of the surrounding neighbourhood. We see quick shots of the girl walking through the park. We see different types of shots of her with some just of her feet and other types like midshots. this fmailiarises us with her charecter and her style.
There are lots of slow-motion shots and added affects in this video with him slowly jumping from a thin fence to a car with no hint of difficulty. It appeared as if he glided through the air. This makes him seem confident and 'cool' as no one is physically capable of doing this. Also the fence is in pink which you would probably not see in a normal neighbourhood. This is a familiar aspect for Frankmusik as a common theme on his album covers is the pink typeface he uses. The audience associate these colours and additions with this artist as he is quite outgoing. his music is quite fast paced making it exciting and so the music video needs to be similar. Therefore the artist uses eccentric additions to make the audience focus on the screen. The bright colours attract the eye to this part of the screen and keeps the audience occupied and interested.
There are ots of shot revers shots of the two seperate characters to show how there journey relate to eachother. The shot of Frankmusik's feet cuts to the exact same shot of the girl's feet establishing a connection between them.
By the end of the video we estbalish the connection between the two journeys. The characters meet at the top of the hill with an establishing shot cutting to a low angle shot up the stairs where we see them come together. This is the ending to the narrative of the music video. The point of the narrative is the connection between these two chracters and so when they come together at the end we establish that they are a couple. We also realise this when they start passionately kissing. At this point there is a two shot with a blurred background making them the focal attention on the screen. This creates a narrow depth of field and can be achieved on the camera by creating a pull focus.
This narrative is similar to our idea except we are intending to use groups of male characters and groups of female characters which will create a comparison between the two personalities of the group. We did not want to rely on just one perosn for our music video as this could end up with only having small amounts of film if this person can only come and film on certain days. Having groups of people means that if one person cannot come we can fill someone else in or just leave them out of certain clips.

3 Little Words
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYhVNYGIZdA
The video begins with a fading in and out image of an over-sized keyboard then cuts to mid-shots of the artist singing to the song. Then we cut back to the over sized keyboard where we see the artist dancing to the beat on top of it. This is a craning, high angle shot that establishes the setting for the video. As he dances the keyboard lights up on each note as a different bright colour. This attracts the target audience as being males and females aged 16-24. This age group like bright colours as they associate this with having fun. The bright lights relate to the genre of the music as being pop dance and we can also associate this with the clubbing scene. In clubs they often use strobe lighting and different colours flashing. The target audience recognise this and are attracted to the music video because of this.
The camera cuts between being at the keyboard to then just showing the artist with a coloured screen behind him. Again this screen changes colour throughout the sequence, from bright orange to red, to yellow etc. These shots are still mid-shots of Frankmusik dancing and singing into the camera. this creates a connection between the artist and the audience. He is giving them eye contact drawing them in. The audience sees this and feels as if the artist is singing to them personally.
The shots of the artist and two other women dancing on the keyboard vary. There are ones that show feet movements, midshots of their faces, midshots of a singular dance, close-ups of the artist face and pans of all. The pans and the cuts between shots happen very quickly and in time with the music. This makes the video more exciting and visual as there is alot going. However, sometimes it does appear too complicated. The shots are too fast and it is hard to catch what happened. Although this would attract the target audience as it keeps them engaged in what is happening as they do not want to miss anything.
This music video, in terms of the mid-shots of the artist singing seems simple to do and we could attempt to do something similar with a green screen in the studio. The keyboard sequence may be harder to do as it would require alot of editing but if we decided to do something similar then it would be manageable.
I prefer the idea of filming in a setting that is recognisable like filming in the woods or in an urban area. This would make the shots more natural. One problem or draw back with this may be the weather. If the weather was not how we planned it to be i.e. sunny for the right period then it would be difficult to finish.

We can use a similar idea in terms of lighting and mise en scene to connect these songs by this particular artist. Like with magazines where we keep a house style across a series of copies. This would attract the same audience as they recognise this style and like it. That is why they folow this artist.

A good idea is to keep the digipack and the video consistent and stick tot he continuity of the idea. The colours need to be coherent and link to the design f the print items.

What Role Will I Play?

I will be using my previous skills of camera work to film various parts of the music video. This will allow me to develop my skills further. We will take equal share in the filming in order for us to create a fair working relationship and to enable all of us to feel like we contributed as much as one another.
When taking my shots I want to produce confident exciting frames such as extreme close-ups of people faces that are focused and show expressions. I also would like to take some shots that have a lot going on, like in a club, but making it visually appealing. To do this I may need to edit the lighting and make the frame as clutter free as possible.
I will also be editing the film that we have shot in order to create a music video that suites the rhythm of the song. For this song it looks like there will need to have a lot of quick cuts and so a lot of editing is needed. Therefore i will be using the software Final Cut Pro to make this easier.
