Possible Series of Events Including The Narrative

Introduction: 0-20sec
Establishing shot of terraced housing showing one light on in the windows, cut to an enlargement of this window where there is a silhouette of a group of girls dancing. Cuts back to the original shot of the terraced housing where we see a different light on in the window. Again an enlargement of this with silhouette of a group of boys sitting around.
Quick shots of extreme close-ups of boy and girls face to identify them as the main characters. Shot reverse shot of the characters. Fits in with the beat of the song as it cuts in time. will need to be edited in order to get this right.
Quite a bass bit of the introduction where we cut between each of the rooms to see the two groups.

20-33sec
zooming into girls laptop and zooming out to see the boys room. All of the girls are looking at the computer in the girls room whereas in the boys just the main character is looking while the others are playing video games.

33-58sec
Cuts back to close-up of the screen where the girl is saying that she needs to go.

58-1.39
Girls run out the house, laughing and messing around. They see the bus and run to get on. Lyrics from the song say "I go to clubs" in which we can then cut to clips of clubs. All the boys are in the car taking the mick out of this boy, presumably about this girl that he appears to like. They then drive pass the bus with the girls on it. Zooms into the girls.

1.39-2.04
The girls are drinking on the bus getting ready for their eventful night out. We see the CCTV in the background and then we see a high angle shot of them in black and white as if it were being played back from the CCTV camera. The girls get of the bus and see the girls.

2.04-2.57
The boys drive past the girls and the main boy stares out the window. the main girl sees him and gives him a cheeky grin and carries on talking to her friends.The song slows by 2.40 where the boys are parking and get pout the car to follow the girls to the same club. They are sort of 'chasing' them.

3.08
The end of the song where the girls get to the queue of the club and the boys follow suit slightly after. The main girl meets her boyfriend and they kiss. The other guy sees this and hangs his head in disappointment.

Mise-en-Scene

Mise-en-scene is everything within the frame. this includes props, costume/ make-up, setting and colour.
On Frankmusik's MySpace page he defines his genre of music as being Electronica, Powerpop and Club. It also states that they have a wide audience but primarily try to attract attention from 18-24 year old clubbers of both genders. You can see a screen grab from my powerpoint, for the pitch, to the right. This establishes what Frankmusik intends to accomplish.
The music video begins with shots of boys getting ready, cutting to the girls to show the comparisons between the two scenes. This will be set in a typical bedroom belonging to a 18-24 year old student living at home with their parents. This cut between the two scenes will show the audience the difference in experience of the getting ready for a big night out process for boys and girls. At this point the two groups are very separated and to not appear to relate to each other in any way.
The main colours in the girls room is black and white with them getting ready into fluorescent coloured clothing and bright make-up to make them the main focus of the frame, making them stand out.
The mise-en-scene for the boys room would include flyers from lots of nights out on the wall, posters of provocative girls, drink scattered, beer cans, dirty washing etc. A stereotypical teenage boys room.
An idea could be to have the boys playing xbox and having a laugh whilst the girls are being more interesting in their appearance for the night out. Then the boys start to get ready and are ready extremely quick to make the separation more apparent. Both sexes can relate to this idea and compare it to their own experiences.
The boys then get into a car and begin to drive away as we then see the girls walk out of their house. This is the first time we see the two groups in the same frame and we make the link that they are connected in some way, a possible insight into the rest of the narrative where their paths cross again.
The girls get on the bus then go to the train station. We then see both groups walk down from Brighton station to the sea-front where they finally meet properly in the queue for a club, this is where they become connected. In these frames there will be no placed lighting, we will just use the lights that are already placed in the streets, such as those from shop windows, street lights and possibly the natural lighting of the moon. This would therefore be a vary dark frame with the light highlighting the characters. We could also see other colours that portrays the dance music including fluorescent colours such as yellow, green and pink.
At the beginning of the music video the set is in a girls and boys bedroom. Therefore props that we place in this set will need to be easily identified by our target audience. This means that it is essential for the props to be appropriate. Therefore in the girls' bedroom we need props like straightners, mirrors, make-up. It seems very stereotypical to do this as not every girls bedroom has this but our target audience will associate these aspects with their own room.
In the boys room there will be different props. these would include, an xbox, posters of women or bands, club night leaflets they have collected and probably be more untidy than that of the girls room.
Also a vital prop in this music video will e the laptop in the girls room and the computer in the boys. This is because we have this as a main aspect of the opening represented scene.
Later on in the music video the props that we actually put in place on purpose get alot less. This is due to us filming on a residential, open street. This means there will be the charecters walking towards the sea from Brighton station with just shops and other people in the frame.
